MAY 2015 MODEL OF MONTH

Jeff presented a World Models Piper Cub powered by a Magnum 70 4 Stroke, it has a wingspan of 71in,  graphics were made at a T-shirt shop which made it look like the Bat Cub

APRIL 2015 MODEL OF MONTH

Ricky presented a Fokker Tri-plane but instead of the usual red it is black. He had an extra fuselage and wings laying around, to complete the plane he had to build the struts for the wings. For the cabin he got a purse from the thrift store and cut out what he needed. The pilot and the guns are custom painted to make it look more realistic. The plane is powered by a Zenoah 26

Tem Raskin presented his Goldberg Falcon 56 Kit with an LA40 2stroke nitro engine. Built, covered and modified for Fuel Tank Access, Tem was immediately declared the winner.

FEBRUARY 2015 MODEL OF MONTH

Trey has a Hangar P51 Mustang with a DLE 20 engine. He airbrushed the weathering, panel lines, and the soot stains from the guns. Also, modified the elevator rods and landing gear.

Mitch presented a JU-87 Stuka build by Great Planes with a 75 OS 2-Stroke with working flaps and dive breaks.

DECEMBER 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Tem Raskin presented a HobbyKing “Big Stick” that was built from a kit. This was the first model that Tim build, and he did an excellent job. The model was a yellow ultra-coat with a white and black checkerboard trim. Tem said the instructions were horrible, and he made several modifications such as bolt-on wing mount instead of the rubber bands provided, and a movable tail wheel instead of the skid provided with the kit. The model is electric power and flies excellent.

NOVEMBER 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Ricky Santos presented his Great Planes; Fokker DR-1 Tri Plane. He has been adding realistic details such as guns, scarfs, decals and paint. It is powered by an XYZ 26cc Gas Engine tuned rich for a more authentic rumble sound.

OCTOBER 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Robert Goplin presented his 2 scratch built “Old Wild Things” for October Model of the Month. Completely built from scratch with full size servos, running on FM radio equipment, and an OS .15 Engine.

Tem presented a Seagull Husky with a Saito 91, Futaba Servos, Spektrum Receiver, 13 ounces of nose weight added to balance, Life battery, with lights.

AUGUST 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Mitch presented his Topflite P47 Thunderbolt powered by Magnum 4-Stroke 91 engine, with electric retracts and oleo struts. It started its life as a bubble canopy. Mitch opened up the rear and built the former and stringers to convert it to a Razorback complete with rivet lines No other models were presented and Mitch is named the winner

JULY 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Robert presented his Pilot RC Super Decathlon with a 122 inch wingspan, 84 inch length and sporting a DLE 85cc Gas motor.
Installed also is a TME Smoke System, Engine Isolation Mount that reduces vibration from the engine, flaps are mixed with the ailerons when in high rates for faster rolls .

MAY 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Jim Tomasetti presented an F-14 pusher model made from Depron foam. The kit was purchased as pre-cut foam from BalsaBuddies.com, a build log by the designer can be found at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769451 for anyone interested. The model is a 3 cell and flies with elevon controls and has a working 3 position sweep wings. It was air-brush painted and detailed with inkjet printed decals depicting the VF-31 squadron “Tomcat” graphics.

APRIL 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Mike Copeland presented his "Twinson" made from 2 Stinson Reliants with a mcdonalds cup for one cowl!.  The Winner is Mike "COPEY" Copeland!

 

MARCH 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Ricky Presented his SeaGull model replica of a 1930’s Percival Mew Gull – 74 inch wing span, electric and runs on 2, 4 cell batteries in series.  The Winner is Ricky Santos!

 

FEBRUARY 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Kent Smith presented his scratch built A4 Skyhawk. Model was carved from built up blue fan-fold foam, using 3 view drawings as a guide. The model was then covered in fiberglass and painted in a Blue Angels Scheme. It is powered by a Wemotec Evo 11-blade fan running on 8 cells, and draws 100 amps The model has no landing gear. It has flown twice and takes off from either a dolly or right off its belly.

 

JANUARY 2014 MODEL OF MONTH

Phil presented a kit built GeeBee Model D Sportster. The model is a Coverite kit, and was powered by a Turnigy 46 electric motor and runs on 4 cells. Model was yellow with Blue trim and includes a detailed cockpit that includes a real leather seat, instrument panel and controls.  The winner was Robert (Lip-O Phil) Knowlton.

 

DECEMBER 2013 MODEL OF MONTH

Our December 2013 Model of the month winner: Robert Litwinski. A Mud Duck built from a kit with an E Flite .60 size electric motor. Constructed from pressed foam cardboard

 

NOVEMBER 2013 MODEL OF MONTH

Mike Copeland built an extremely large flying wing from a 4X8 sheet of 1 inch insulation foam. The model was powered by and E-Flite 46 and a 4 cell 5000 mAh battery. The foam comes covered in metal foil, so the receiver is mounted in the very aft point to improve reception. The model was flown and flies extremely well, even without any vertical stabilizer.

 

OCTOBER 2013 MODEL OF MONTH

Jerry presented a RC Aerodyne super scale Bell 407 heli that was finished as a replica of the WFTV’s Skywitness 9 helicopter. All the mechanics are up in the top rear of the fuse so the cockpit and passenger compartment also appear scale.

 

AUGUST 2013 MODEL OF MONTH

Phil presented a scratch build electric powered Bald Eagle. The model was built from foam, and sported a highly detailed, realistic paint scheme, and had retractable talons.

 

JUNE 2013 MODEL OF MONTH

A.J. Alvarez presented a scale H60 Jayhawk heli with Coast Guard color scheme and custom made auxiliary fuel tanks. Model is electric, powered by 12 cells with a 600mm X 4 blade man rotor.

 

MAY 2013 MODEL OF MONTH

Jim Tomasetti presented a Gee Bee R3 from Hobbyking. This model was 1400MM wingspan and runs on a 4 cell 3000 mAh pack.
